About IIT Madras: Founded in 1959, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras or IIT-M) is a public technical university and one of the eight public Institute of Eminence of India. It is the third Indian Institute of Technology established by the Government of India with technical, academic and financial assistance from the then government of West Germany. B Tech Eligibility – The candidates must adhere to the following criteria:

1. Passed XII standard examination or equivalent 
2. Mandatory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics 
3. Qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced 
4. One of the following: aggregate marks of 75% (65% for PwD candidates) in XII standard OR be within the top 20 percentile category-wise successful candidates in XII examination. 

B Tech Selection Process 

1. Students must appear for JEE Main
2. They must qualify for the JEE Advanced which is specifically for admission into IITs.
3. After the result are out must seat for the JoSAA counseling and choose their preferences
4. After selection, candidates will receive a provisional admission letter 
5. Seat is allocated based on the JEE Advanced rank
6. To confirm their seat, students must pay the admission fee
