About IIT Kharagpur :  Founded in 1951, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur or IIT- KGP) is an autonomous public institute of technology and research university established by the Government of India. It is one of the first IITs to be established and was awarded the status of Institute of Eminence by the Government of India in 2019. What started as an institute to train engineers has diversified its academic fields extending to management, architecture, humanities, law, etc.

Eligibility

The candidates must adhere to the following criteria:

1. Passed XII standard examination or equivalent 
2. Mandatory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics 
3. Qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced 
4. One of the following: aggregate marks of 75% (65% for PwD candidates) in XII standard OR be within the top 20 percentile category-wise successful candidates in XII examination. 

Selection Process

1. Admissions are primarily based on Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced Scores
2. All candidates must register and appear for JEE Main and Qualify for JEE Advanced 
3. Once the JEE Advanced results are out, candidates are to participate in the (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) JoSAA counseling where based on their rank and category preference their seat allocation will be decided 
4. Shortlisted candidates must complete document verification and pay the admission fee to confirm their seats
