About IIT Kanpur : The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur or IIT-K) is a public institute of technology established by an Act of Parliament in 1960 by the Government of India. As an Indian Institute to Technology (IIT), it was declared an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India under the Institutes of Technology Act.

Eligibility: The candidates must adhere to the following criteria:

1. Passed XII standard examination or equivalent 
2. Mandatory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics 
3. Qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced 

One of the following: aggregate marks of 75% (65% for PwD candidates) in XII standard OR be within the top 20 percentile category-wise successful candidates in XII examination.

Selection Process 

1. Students must appear for JEE Main
2. They must qualify for JEE Advanced, which is specifically for admission into IITs.
3. After the result are out must seat for the JoSAA counseling and choose their preferences
4. Seat is allocated based on the JEE Advanced rank
5. IIT Kanpur follows the reservation policies prescribed by the Board of Governors with seats reserved for SC, ST, OBC and PwD categories
6. IIT Kanpur also offers limited seats for B.Tech programs through Olympiads.
