About IIT Varanasi: IIT BHU is one of the oldest Colleges in India, Founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College which was later renamed in 2012, the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi is a public technical university. It was renamed once in 1968 as the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University before getting its current name in 2012. Banaras Engineering College (BENCO) (1919) College of Mining and Metallurgy (MINMET) (1923) College of Technology (TECHNO) (1932) Institute of Technology (IT-BHU) (1968).

BHU has the credit of first starting degree classes in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering and Pharmaceutics

Eligibility 

The candidates must adhere to the following criteria:

1.  Passed XII standard examination or equivalent 
2. Mandatory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics 
3. Qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced 
4.  Aggregate marks of 75% (65% for PwD candidates) in XII standard 
5.  Candidates must have appeared for XII examination in 2024 or 2025.

Selection Process

1.  Admissions are primarily based on Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced Scores
2. All candidates must register and appear for JEE Main and Qualify for JEE Advanced 
3.  Once the JEE Advanced results are out, candidates are to participate in the (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) JoSAA counseling where based on their rank and category preference their seat allocation will be decided 
4.  Shortlisted candidates must complete document verification and pay the admission fee to confirm their seats
